Doctoral degree in the area of aging of wood construction materials

The Chair in Organic- and Wood-based Materials at the School of Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Environmental Science at Carolo-Wilhelmina University in Braunschweig, Germany  (www.ibmb.tubraunschweig.de/index.php/fachgebiet-fgo.html) is seeking a well-qualified individual to pursue doctoral degree in the area of aging of wood construction materials. This is a part of the newly-established graduate program “Aging of construction materials” funded by the German national science foundation (DFG) – see


The emphasis of this position is on the development and application of analytical methods to study the ageing of wood and wood – adhesive interface in structural applications.

A MS degree in Materials Science, Engineering Science and/or Mechanics or a related field and good command of German and/or English (or the willingness to learn German within 12 months of appointment) are required. This is a doctoral position within the German academic system with benefits. The length of the appointment is three years with performance being evaluated annually.
